Where? Mount Moreland is a small hamlet type village, situated just North of Umhlanga Rocks on the North coast of KwaZulu Natal, South Africa.

Directions: At N2 off ramp Umdloti/Verulam turn towards Verulam. Go just under 1km, turn right at white pillar saying Umdloti Estate, Mount Moreland. Follow the road, the rest is signposted Mount Moreland /Swallow View site.

Barn Swallows Arrival Times at Mount Moreland

The site is open every night during the season weather permitting, if it is raining please re-schedule.

To fully enjoy the Barn Swallow viewing experience at Mount Moreland bring your camp chairs, sun-downers, and picnic –essentials are Binoculars and mozzie cream.
There is a R20.00 per person entrance fee that is used for site maintenance and improvements.

Items on sale include: memorabilia, booklet, key-rings, jewelry items, magnets etc
NOTE: NO food or drinks are sold on site

It is important to know the sunset time if you are planning a visit to come and view the Barn Swallows at the Swallow Roost site.

It is advised to arrive half an hour before sunset.
